[uBp] United Base Players™ Ventrilo Tutorial
This tutorial will show you how to connect and use some of the simple tools we use on Ventrilo. Click on a screen-shot to enlarge it.
The first thing you want to do (after you have downloaded Ventrilo from here) is open Ventrilo by double clicking the icon on your desktop. This window should appear:

At the top of the Ventrilo window there are three (3) sections: "User Name", "Server" and "Bindings". You will only have to be familiar with two of them, user name and server. Next to each section is a button with an arrow on it. When this button is clicked another window will pop-up allowing you to edit the information in that section.
Click the arrow next to "User Name" to set-up your user name. This window should appear:

Click "New" at the top of this window. Another window should appear over that one looking like this:

Enter your "User Name". Remember Do NOT Put [uBp] in front of your user name. (For those unfamiliar with a "User Name", Your "User Name" is the name you used to sign up with. A.K.A. your in-game-name).
For this tutorial, the [uBp] United Base Players™ staff has chosen "User Name" to be the "User Name" for the learning process.
After Entering Your "User Name", Please Click "Ok"

Please do not fill out anything else in this window. Click "OK" at the bottom of the user name edit window.

Now click the arrow next to the section that says "Server". This window should appear:

Click the button "New" at the top of the window. This window should appear:

Please enter "[uBp] Vent" as shown in the picture and click "OK"
You will notice that the other sections on the window from before are now open for editing.

Enter The information as follows:
Hostname or IP: vent.unitedbaseplayers.org
Port number: 4224
Password: (This should be emailed to you when you post in the "New Member's Introductions" section on the forums)
The picture above shows how this should look.
Click "Ok" when all the information has been entered correctly.
The top sections of the Ventrilo window should now look like this: (With your User Name)

When the information is correct, click connect on the right hand side of the Ventrilo window. (This is highlighted in blue on the picture above)
The welcome screen should look as follows:

The window that has appeared on top of the Ventrilo window will show you the rules for this Ventrilo server and update on any important news that you need to know. The rules listed are to be followed. Any one caught breaking these rules will be punished, and could possibly lose Ventrilo access.
Click "OK" on this box to close it.
Now that you are connected on the [uBp] United Base Players™ Ventrilo server, it is time to set-up your microphone. If you do not have one this is Ok, but you may still need to use this set-up in order to hear the other [uBp] United Base Players™ members.
On the right-hand side of the Ventrilo window is your control panel. To open your main window to edit your audio settings click "Set-up". Highlighted in the picture below:

A new window should pop-up, and it should appear as follows:

On the left-hand side of this window there are boxes you can click to enable certain functions. The one you must click (if you have a microphone) is "Use Push-To-Talk Hotkey" which is outlined in the picture above.
After this box is checked, a section underneath the boxes will be unlocked. This section is called "Hotkey". The hotkey enables you to push a key on your keyboard and be able to talk.
Click inside this box, then press your desired hotkey. For this tutorial the [uBp] United Base Players™ staff has chosen the left alt button as the hotkey.
Inside the box it will abbreviate the hotkey you chose, as shown in the picture below:

Next to get your microphone settings enabled so you can hear and speak. In that same window (from the picture above) on the Left hand Sside you will see two sections, "Output Device" and "Input Device".
Above each is a box, and next to the box it says "Use DirectSound", you should check these boxes. This will automatically locate your primary input and output sources. If you need more help with this process see someone in the help channel on Ventrilo.
Now lets go over switching channels. This is very simple. How simple you ask? So Simple it needs no pictures!
In order to initiate channel movement, you must have Ventrilo open. Find your desired channel and double-click on the bold name of the channel. You will now be in that Channel, unless it is a password protected channel, then you will need to enter the password to go in said channel.
Now to show you how to open chat.
Chat is a tool Ventrilo offers to allow you to type messages to another member (or members) whom is in the chat with you.
To open chat, look to the right side of the main Ventrilo window and click on the button that says "Chat" (highlighted in blue on the picture below).

After clicked this window will appear:

The users in chat are displayed on the right window inside chat. All messages Sent in chat will appear in the center window inside chat. To type a message click on the long, skinny, section at the bottom of the chat window. After a message is typed you may click "Send" or hit enter to send the message. To close the chat window click the button at the bottom of the chat window that says "Close" the chat window will not close if you try to click the "X" at the top-right of the chat window.
